About ABC for Health, Inc.: Advocacy and Benefits Counseling for Health, Inc. (ABC) is a Wisconsin-based nonprofit public interest law firm dedicated to ensuring health care access for children and families, particularly those with special needs or who are at risk. ABC's mission is to provide health care consumers with the information, advocacy tools, legal services, and expert support they need to navigate through America's complex and confusing health care financing system. ABC is developing a nationally recognized, integrated model of Health Benefits Counseling, legal services, and policy advocacy that promotes a universal system of health care coverage and access for all people. ABC also serves as a catalyst in the development of local HealthWatch Coalitions as well as other partnerships and strategic alliances to influence public policy and opinion while also working to maximize all available health care coverage options for all people.

About My Coverage Plan: My Coverage Plan (MCP) (patent pending, publication number 20080033756 “System and Method for Obtaining, Maintaining and Maximizing Healthcare Benefits”) is a web-based, word-intuitive health benefits screening tool. The software application uses a relational database with a learning interface linked to an accumulated data source and technical expertise to identify and generate an electronic planning document that outlines current as well as future public and private healthcare coverage options. MCP generates a personalized health electronic health care coverage record. MCP enables health care providers to provide pro-active customer service in a competitive health care marketplace while simultaneously increasing reimbursement for services by providing a cost-effective, on-site solution for proactively maximizing patients’ health care financing resources. Currently, no competition exists in the market for point-of-service health care benefits screening tools that incorporates public and private payor options and generates an electronic record. While other electronic benefits screening tools exist, most are intended for implementation by states or municipalities to target the downstream market of potential benefit recipients.

MCP enables health care providers to initiate benefits eligibility probability for their uninsured patients, thereby providing a real-time basis for informed billing and service delivery decisions and a provider-driven mechanism for reducing uncompensated care expenses. In addition, each of the existing benefits screening applications requires site-specific installation. In contrast, MCP will be a true Software as Service application, offering point-of-service resource delivery, thereby: 1) providing immediate, consistent benefits eligibility information to health care providers and consumers; 2) reducing health care providers’ staff time expenses and overhead by eliminating the need for site-specific application instances and associated maintenance and updates; and, 3) reducing the incidence of non-payment and underpayment for services, thereby increasing health care provider reimbursement rates and contributing to stabilization of rising health care service costs.
